Anantnag: Government forces on Wednesday claimed to have averted a major militant attack by defusing two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Pulwama.
The ‘parcels’ containing the explosives were located at about 11:30 PM on Wednesday in Dangerpora area of the south Kashmir district.
“The well packed explosives were planted along the circular road, also known as Pulwama by-pass,” a police officer told Kashmir Reader.
According to police, the search for IED’s was initiated by CRPF following intelligence inputs. “It was primarily an operation of the CRPF men based on strong intelligence inputs. Police and army also assisted the operation,” SP Pulwama Chaudhary Aslam told Kashmir Reader.
He said the CRPF brought in a Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) soon after the explosives were located and diffused the IED’s.
