Srinagar: A delegation of Hurriyat Conference and Awami Action Committee Saturday visited the bereaved family of DySP Ayoub Ahmad Pandit, who was lynched outside Jamia Masjid Srinagar during Shab-e-Qadar.
The delegation led by Muhammad Shafi Khan and Advocate Yasir Dalal conveyed grief and sorrow to the bereaved family.
A statement issued by Hurriyrat said that the delegation conveyed to the family that Mirwaiz and the Hurriyat Conference “condemn this inhuman act” and that “brutality of every sort is condemnable and unacceptable.”
Meanwhile, a Hurriyat spokesman condemned and denounced the “harassment” and arrests during nocturnal raids on the residences of Hurriyat leaders and activists on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr. He described it as vengeful and unethical.
The spokesman has also strongly condemned the continuous house arrest of Hurriyat Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq who was prevented from attending the congregation of Jumat -ul-Vida at historic Jamia Masjid Srinagar.
The spokesman said it is for the first time in the recent history of Kashmir that Jamia Masjid was locked down on the occasion of Juma-tul-Vida.
The spokesman said that by use of “brute force” the rulers are curbing religious as well as political rights of people.
The spokesman also condemned the arrest of JKLF Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik and nocturnal raid on the residence of Hurriyat leader Ghulam Nabi Zaki and a number of other resistance activists.
