Srinagar: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti termed the lynching of the DySP as a “murder of trust” and asked people to not test the patience of the police.
Mehbooba said that police is the best force in India and has always exercised utmost restraint.
“God forbid, if this is the result of their restraint, it’s going to be very difficult. For how long can this go on? Earlier six policemen including an SHO were killed in Achabal and now the lynching of DySP sahab took place. I want to ask people, if this goes on, things may well go back to how they were, when people would run just upon seeing a (police) jeep on the road,” she said.
“DySP sahab had allowed his guards to go home on Shab-e-Qadr as it was his own area, but the incident that occurred is actually a murder of trust and a shameful act as well,” she added.
Mehbooba said that the slain cop wasn’t out for his own work but for the safety and security of the people. “I appeal to the people to stop such things as the incident that occurred is highly shameful,” she said.
