Yateem Foundation organizes seminar on ‘Ramadhan Call’
SRINAGAR: J&K Yateem Foundation organized a seminar “Ramadhan Call: Truthfulness, Transparency & Accountability in Social Service Sector” at Govt College of Education here.
Speakers called for an integrated policy to ensure comprehensive and inclusive welfare and rehabilitation programme for the poor and needy especially orphans, widows and destitute. They stressed on a need to give positive direction to the social service work.
The speakers also described truthfulness, transparency and accountability as the cornerstones for strengthening the spirit of sincerity and credibility in the cause of serving people.
Chief Guest Prof (Dr) Mushtaq Ahmad Siddiqi, VC, Islamic University of Science & Technology (IUST) called for doing away with sectarian mindset and urged to follow pure teachings of Islam and the holy life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
He appealed for reaching out to the needy and destitute irrespective of caste, colour, creed, region and religion which he described as the most glorious aspect of Prophet’s (PBUH) holy life. He described paying of Zakat as the best formula to resolve socio-economic problems of the needy people.
Guest of Honour Prof (Dr) Maqsooda Khan, Principal, Insitute of Advanced Studies in Education, Govt College of Education appreciated the welfare initiatives undertaken by the JKYF. She stressed the need to organize more such awareness programmes to sensitize the people about the problems and plight of the disadvantaged and underprivileged sections of the society.
Islamic scholar Dr Faheem Mohammad Ramzan described truthfulness, transparency and accountability as the fundamental principles of Islam for which there would be answerability before Almighty Allah.
JKYF’s documentary film titled “Ehsaas e Shafaqat—Together with Orphans, Widows & Destitute-Part II” and “Baitul Hilal Anthem” were screened on the occasion.
