KCCI condemns police ‘assault’ on its president

Srinagar: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) condemned “police assault” on its president, Mushtaq Ahmad Wani near Al-Ameen Hospital, Hyderpora, Srinagar on Thursday. In a meeting held Friday KCCI said that Wani was assaulted by police when he was on his way to Masjid for Taraweeh prayers at about 9.15pm on Thursday.
“His vehicle was badly damaged while he was hit with a gun aimed at to kill him. Police man was about to shoot him but it was for mere providence that he was saved as the gun yielding policeman’s attention got diverted by the call of his fellow security men,” said KCCI. The KCCI expressed serious concern over “such lawlessness where even the passersby are not spared and urge the authorities to put a hold on the forces going unruly against the people.”
