Srinagar: Senior resistance leader Syed Ali Geelani was not allowed to offer Friday congregational prayers and the authorities continued to keep him under house arrest. The police also placed Tehreek-e-Hurriyat General Secretary Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai and Ayaz Akbar under house arrest. While terming authorities action as state sponsored terrorism, Hurriyat spokesman said that it is unjustified and all these arbitrary measures hold no ethical ground.
The spokesman said that the administration does not follow ethics and it has turned a routine practice for the authorities to put the leadership under house arrest.
Spokesman said that Syed Ali Geelani, who continues to be under house detention for past several years, was again stopped from offering Friday prayers by the police. It is taking a heavy toll on his health and is unjustified and holds no ethical ground. Condemning the state administration for their ‘vengeful policy’ and aggressive approach against Syed Ali Geelani, spokesman said that they don’t even consider issues related to his health.
