SRINAGAR: A man attempted to kill his younger sister in a fit of rage after she refused to pay him an amount of five thousand rupees. Police have recovered a can of diesel that he tried to sprinkle on his sister and knife that he brandished to threaten her.
According to police, Dawood Ahmed Ahangar, a resident of Panthachowk area, sprinkled diesel on vehicles parked in the compound of his house before dragging out his younger sister and attempting to kill her with a knife.
The accused also smashed window panes of the house and destroyed household items.
A complaint filed by the Ahangar’s elder sister reads that she and her younger sister were sitting in the kitchen of their house when the accused came in and asked for Rs 5000. “I told him that I don’t have money. He got furious and dragged my younger sister by her hair, beating her ruthlessly and even sprinkled diesel on her. He shouted at our maid to bring a match-stick to set her on fire,” she told a subordinate court.
“The maid tried to stop him. He took out a knife from his pocket and tried to kill my sister. I called my elder brother on phone and asked him to bring police. When police came they took the knife and diesel can from the spot and arrested the accused. They also seized the window panes that he had broken,” she said.
Ahanger was later arrested by the police and lodged in central jail Srinagar.
Police4 filed an FIR no 29/2017 against the accused under section 307,436, 336, 427 RPC at police station Panthachowk and challan was produced in the court.
On the maiden hearing of the case, the court asked the accused to arrange a counsel on next hearing.
