‘Those who are affiliated with PDP-BJP are being regularize’
Srinagar: Police used water cannons to foil a protest march of dailywagers and casual labours of Public Health Engineering (PHE) department and detained scores of protesting employees.
Alleging that the government was regularizing employees affiliated with political parties, the protesters assembled outside the PHE head office at Lal Chowk and chanted slogans like ‘we want justice’.
The protesters led by association president, Sajad Ahmad Parray tried to march towards civil secretariat but police used water cannons to foil their march and detained scores of them.
“Finance Minister, Haseeb A Drabu had promised us that we will be regularized and also a committee headed by chief Secretary was formed in this regard. The committee had to submit their report on May 30,” Parray said adding that the sub-committee meeting was held on May 30 in which it was decided that “those who have been appointed in the year 2007 to 2010 and having political affiliation with PDP and BJP will be regularized. “
“We are being forced to take streets,” he added.
“We have served the department with dedication for past 20 years and the government is ignoring our plights. We won’t act as mute spectator in case the government betrays our trust,” Parray added.]
