SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman and president of Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulema, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, on Sunday addressed people at Masjid Sharief Lakhripora, Nowshehra, here before Asr prayers.
Mirwaiz said the fasting month of Ramadhan is full of blessings for those who fast with a great belief that for good deeds and fasting, Allah will Himself reward the believer.
Highlighting the importance of the month and benefits of fasting, Mirwaiz called upon people to ensure they perform “Hakook-ul-Ibaad” (Rights owed to humanity) to the best of their abilities just like they perform “Hakook Allah” (Rights owed to Allah like prayers and fasting) during the ongoing holy month of Ramadhan.
Shedding light on the importance of the ‘Ten Days of Forgiveness’ (Ashra-e-Magfirah) of Ramadhan, Mirwaiz said Allah could forgive carelessness in performing “Hakook-ul-Allah” but will not forgive if we usurp the due and rights of others.
Urging people to benefit from the blessings and auspiciousness of the holy month and seeking forgiveness of the Almighty Allah for their sins, Mirwaiz said controlling unwanted desires was necessary for gaining taqwa.
Delving on the philosophy of Ramadhan, the Hurriyat (M) chairman said it teaches us to help each another in difficult times by being empathetic toward one another and showing solidarity with each other’s cause and by helping the poor and the destitute to avail things and opportunities which we do for ourselves.
