Sumbal: The non-availability of doctors and paramedical staff at a new-type primary health centre in Nowgam has triggered protests.
Nowgam, a low lying area of Sonawari constituency in Bandipora district with more than 8000 population, is an epidemic prone area that often reels under viral diseases. However, a hospital established in the area, residents say, has never been able to cater to the people’s requirements.
The protesters said that despite presence of a hospital building, the patients in the area have to visit Sumbal for treatment of even trivial ailments. The higher-ups of the department have been promising to depute staff but these promises have never been fulfilled, they alleged.
