AIP celebrates State Flag Day
SRINAGAR: The Awami Ittehad Party on Wednesday observed ‘State Flag Day’ at Municipal Park Jawahar Nagar in Srinagar despite being denied permission by the state administration to hoist the state flag.
“On the occasion, state flag was hoisted and the state anthem was sung with enthusiasm,” a statement issued by the party here said.
Speaking at the ceremony, party Supremo and MLA Langate, Abdul Rasheed Sheikh, retreated that restoration of autonomy is not the solution and Kashmiris will accept nothing less than plebiscite.
“However till final resolution Kashmiris have to ensure that India doesn’t weaken further all those provisions or the status which state is enjoying,” Rasheed said. “Whether it is state flag or Article 370, they are all ample proof that J&K is not India’s Integral part”.
Rasheed condemned New Delhi for indulging in character assassination campaign of Huriyat leaders.
“If Huriyat leaders are terrorists, then why did Manmohan Singh talk to Yaseen Malik and Lal Krishan Adwani to Mir Waiz Umer Farooq,” he said.
“However, by calling resistance leadership names and using abusive language against Kashmiris, Geelani’s stand over talks stands vindicated, as he has been the strong voice asking Kashmiris not to believe India and has been constantly rejecting talks apprehending New Delhi’s non seriousness and rough attitude”.
