Srinagar: The state cabinet is set to discuss the State Water Policy along with some other issues such as masterplan for Gulmarg here on Wednesday.
Besides, the cabinet to be chaired by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, is also likely to give nod for amendments in the J&K Transfer of Property Act in order to “facilitate” Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA) for establishment of solar power plants, sources said.
The promotion of a senior IAS officer to the fixed scale and clearance of terms and conditions for appointment of five law officers for the Supreme Court of India will also figure in the meet.
The draft of the water policy was placed before the Cabinet during its meeting held on April 27 but most of the ministers insisted on carrying out detailed study of the draft.
Sources said that the draft of the policy is being placed before the Cabinet again for approval as J&K High Court reprimanded the PHE, and Irrigation and Flood Control Department on inordinate delay in framing the policy during the hearing of a PIL recently.
The cabinet is also likely to deliberate on draft of Gulmarg Master Plan. The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has already directed government to inform it about the decision taken by cabinet on Master Plan for Gulmarg, the ecologically fragile world famous tourist-resort in north Kashmir.
