Srinagar: A court in Srinagar listed a kidnapping case of 1998 for final arguments after closing its evidence and declared one of the accused, Mohammad Isaac Wagay of Qazigund, as absconder under section 512 of RPC.
The court of 4th additional sessions judge had also passed directions on previous hearing to other three accused, Muzaffar Ahmed Danposh of Nawakadal, Rizwan Ahmed Hagroo of Nawabazaar and Aijaz Ahmed Bhat of from Nawakadal, to present their lawyer before court. The three accused are on bail while the fourth is absconding.
In 1998 a 7-year-old student from Presentation Convent School was kidnapped for ransom, but was recovered by police after 18 hours in Qazigund.
The girl student was on way to school along with her friends in an auto rickshaw who used to pick and drop them.
According to the charge sheet, the abductors waiting near SPS Museum, Lal Mandi stopped the auto and kidnapped the girl, who belonged to well known business family.
The girl was taken to Qazigund and was kept in the house of accused Mohammad Isaac Wagay.
The abductors called the parents and asked them to pay them Rs 1 lac lane near Jhelum Valley College of Medical Sciences.
The parents called the police and on their inputs the parents went to that spot with the money whereby police had already laid a siege and arrested the abductors while taking the money. Later police recovered the girl from Qazigund and handed her over to her family.
