NIA harassing Hurriyat activists: Geelani

SRINAGAR: Chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Geelani, Sunday, on Sunday said that Indian authorities and its agencies, particularly NIA, were unnecessarily harassing Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leadership and its activists.
Reacting sharply over raids conducted by (NIA), Geelani, in a statement issued in Srinagar, said that the agency have been given this task just to drag and involve leadership in fabricated cases. Condemning the raids, the Hurriyat chairman said, “Unfortunate aspect is that NIA sleuths during raids harass inmates and even ransack properties”.
“Leadership and party activists are being called and interrogated at JIC Humhama. It is sheer vengeance and intimidation and all these coercive tactics won’t deter us from advocating just cause,” Geelani said. He warned India that these “inhuman, immoral and undemocratic” tactics will be resisted tooth and nail.
Terming the raids “arrogance”, Geelani lashed out at Indian authorities, and said that “these shameful attempts are revenge”. Blaming state administration, Geelani said that they facilitated Indian agencies. “It is shameful for these puppets that they are lending their support to cage and implicate leadership on frivolous charges,” Geelani said.
