Anantnag: Police in Kulgam said on Thursday that they had apprehended a youth with arms and ammunition who was out to carry an attack on government forces in Qazigund.
Police identified the youth as Shoiab Mohammad Bhat, son of Mohammad Shafi, resident of Charsoo village in Awantipora.
Police believe that the youth is either a freshly recruited militant or part of a module tasked with carrying out attacks on government forces.

A joint naka, as per the official, by the army’s 9RR and the police was set up at nearby Manigam village. “He tried to flee seeing the Naka but was nabbed by the alert troops on duty,” the official said. “A pistol and 8 rounds have been recovered from his possession.”
A case with FIR number 132-2017 under Section 7/25 of the Arms Act has been registered against the youth, police said, and he is being questioned.
