Srinagar: Two militants were killed on Thursday in an operation by the government forces in Sopore town in north Kashmir, police said.
They said that both were instrumental in throwing a grenade on police on Wednesday in Sopore town in which four personnel were injured.
“The two militants were killed in a joint operation with 22 Rashtriya Rifles, 92, 177 and 179 battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF),” a police official said.
Earlier forces cordoned off Nathi Pora area of Sopore. Forces according to police sources were fired upon by hiding militants triggering a gunfight.
