Srinagar: The two militants killed in a gunfight early Thursday in north Kashmir’s Sopore area have been identified as Aijaz Ahmad Mir of Brath Kalan and Basharat Ahmad Sheikh of Bomai Sopore.
Sources said that both were affiliated with Hizbul Mujahideen.
The bodies of both the slain militants have been handed over to the next of kin for last rites, they said.
Meanwhile, local sources said that people are assembling in Brath Kalan and Bomai to participate in the funeral prayers of the slain militants amidst shutdown in the area.
The two were killed in a brief gunfight with forces in Nathipora area of Sopore early today.
Meanwhile, mobile phone services have been blocked and schools and colleges have been closed in Sopore area, sources said.
