Srinagar: Clashes between protesters and government forces erupted in south Kashmir’s Shopian town Thursday amidst different rumours about the army operation in dozens of villages in the district.
Local sources said that scores of youth took to streets and pelted stones on police and forces at many places in the town.
They said that situation was tense in the south Kashmir town since morning after dozens of villages were cordoned off by army.
Police sources said that the town started normally in the morning however many police and forces vehicles were stoned at few places in the afternoon.
Local sources said that soon after the stone pelting incidents shopkeepers pulled down their shutters.
