Srinagar: After a video featuring more than 30 militants surfaced on social media, another video has propped up showing 16 militants in an apparent arms training session. The video is believed to be shot from a cell phone somewhere in south Kashmir.(LeT).
The leader is using Kashmiri language in the training session, indicating that all the recruits are local.
According to army sources, as many as 120 militants are currently active in southern Kashmir among whom most are local homegrown recruits trained locally. Most are associated with Hizbul Mujahideen.
Some 25 are said to be associated with Lashkar while two recent recruits have floated Tehreek ul Mujahideen (TM) outfit, a group active in the early 90s. Militant outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad has only four to five active non-local militants who operate under Hizb ranks.
