SRINAGAR: Chairman Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Saturday “strongly condemned” the alleged thrashing of students and teachers of Polytechnic College, Gogji Bagh, Srinagar by government forces.
In a statement issued here, Mirwaiz said student protests does not only stem from political aspirations but also due to continuous “repressive” policies. “Subjugating and depoliticising the younger generation is destroying their lives and educational career,” he said.
Mirwaiz said such “brutal” actions won’t prevent the students to hit streets who witness “severe repression and brutality” of the state with each passing day. “The overwhelming emotional outpouring of students is the moving expression of their anger and anguish against political uncertainty and Indian occupation which they are fed up with and having deep yearning for justice and resolution of the Kashmir dispute,” Mirwaiz said.
