Kupwara: Two militants who stormed army camp in Kupwara yesterday were silently buried in Baramulla district on Thursday night.
The militants whose identity has not been ascertained so far were buried by police in Gantamulla area in the district.
Police sources said that police in Kupwara handed over the bodies to their counterparts in Baramulla, where the duo was buried with the assistance of a few locals. Since 2015 when top Pakistani Lashkar commander Abu Qasim received hero’s farewell in the Valley, police has been burying non-local militants away from public glare in Baramulla to avoid such mammoth public funerals. Currently, the graveyard sheltered 30 militants including the ones killed in Pampore EDI attack. The toll touched 32 by burying two more last night.
Meanwhile, army launched a massive search operation in forested areas of Panzgam to trace the third militant who managed to escape from the attack site yesterday.
Sources said that army pressed sniffer dogs into the service to locate the militant.
