HANDWARA: Independent MLA from Langate, Abdul Rasheed Sheikh, on Thursday said that threats of “Jan Sena” formation by a Hindu organisation have exposed India’s insecurity in Kashmir.
“Hindu priest has not said it on his own but has the full backing of various agencies,” a statement issued here by Rasheed’s Awami Ittehad Party said.
The press release said that Rasheed addressed public meetings in Kupwara today in which he reminded people about former defence minister Manohar Parikar statement “diamond cuts diamond” that “hinted at reviving Ikhwan counter insurgents”.
“It seems that India has now failed to hire Ikhwanis. Even Ikhwanis don’t trust the false promises of New Delhi, so after being left with no option, tribals are being prepared to replace Ikhwanis,” Rasheed was quoted by the statement. “But when army of seven lach soldiers, para-military forces and other draconian measures have failed to break will of Kashmiris, these stupid but colonial ideas are bound to fail”.
Rasheed, the statement said, ridiculed Mehbooba Mufti for her claim that Modi government will follow Vajpayee’s policy on Jammu & Kashmir. “Kashmiris have rejected Vajpayee’s policy in Kashmir and those praising Vajpayee are trying to mislead none but themselves”.
He challenged Mehbooba Mufti to explain “what Vajpayee’s Kashmir formula was”. He added that Vajpayee was neither in favour of UN resolutions nor has he shown willingness to leave J&K as an independent state. “His only mission was to engage Kashmiris into futile talks and get them tired and pitch them against each other by creating confusions and doubts,” he said.
