Mobile net restored in Valley
Srinagar: After the government officially banned twenty-two social media sites including WatsApp, Twitter and Facebook in the Valley, many more social networking sites and instant messaging services will be banned in Kashmir, sources told Kashmir Reader.
Even as the ban was formally announced on Wednesday, the blanket ban is yet to be put in place on all these sites and messaging services. Many netizens are still able to access social networks like Facebook and Watsapp.
According to sources, the authorities are struggling to completely shut all the the pretext of ‘maintaining peace and order’ will bring neither peace nor order,” media reports quoting Steven Butler, Asia Programme coordinator at CPJ said on Thursday.
“Such broad censorship clearly violates the democratic ideals and human rights India purports to uphold,” he said.
