SRINAGAR: Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani on Wednesday quoting public delegations said the state education department is sending girl students to various forces’ camps in different states for NCC training.
Geelani while expressing “deep concern” said it is a “very sensitive issue and a matter of concern for all”. “It is shocking. Authorities and staff involved are hell-bent on tarnishing the dignity, sanctity, and moral values in the state. The parents as well as the staff of these institutions are responsible for it,” he said.
The Hurriyat chairman said some “sensible sources and honourable members” of the society revealed to him that “few heads of these colleges are readily cooperating with forces and they should forthwith stop this practice”. He appealed to teaching and non-teaching staff of these institutions to stop this practice and desist from handing over girl students to forces.
“Parents should take care of their children. It is their primary duty to safeguard their honour besides keep a close vigil over the situations,” he said.
Geelani added, “The occupational forces are involved in brutal massacre and rape incidents and it is our religious obligation to safeguard the sanctity of our daughters and avoid handing them to forces for NCC training. All these activities are against the sense of honour.”
