SRINAGAR: Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani on Tuesday condemned the re-arrest of senior leader of the amalgam and chairman of Muslim League Jammu Kashmir Masarat Alam Bhat and termed it as “state terrorism and disgrace for their (govt’s) judicial system”.
In a statement issued here, Geelani expressed his “deep concern” over the deteriorating condition of party’s ailing leader Mohammad Rustum Bhat saying “the state administration is subjecting these detainees to vengeance”.
He demanded immediate release of both leaders and appealed the human rights organisations to take cognisance about “unlawful detentions and prevailing grim situation” in the state.
Condemning Alam’s re-arrest, Geelani said, “There is no legal justification for his continuous detention as judiciary has bailed out him from all cases. The Indian agencies don’t favor his release and are creating hurdles and the state administration is following these agencies.”
The Hurriyat (G) chairman said the state administration is “incompetent and helpless to such an extent that they could not make a free and fair decision for Alam’s case and his release”. “They are ‘His master’s voice’ and left with only one option – to follow the dictates from their masters,” he said.
