RTI Movement condemns ‘threat’ to Adv Irfan Hafiz

SRINAGAR: Chairman J&K RTI Movement Dr. Shaikh Ghulam Rasool has strongly condemned the “harassment and threats” that Advocate Irfan Hafiz Lone, Legal Advisor, J&K RTI Movement and the first RTI activist of J&K received from numerous communal people.
In a statement issued here, Rasool said the “inclusive anti-Kashmir wave” has spread so large that every person of Kashmir is threatened in one way or other within state or outside the state. “In similar vein, three days ago, on 19 April, 2017 around 3:00 PM, two persons approached Adv Irfan Hafiz Lone outside the district court Baramulla and threatened him not to raise the human rights violation issue in TV debates to which he replied he is impartial in condemning the violations be it from any side,” he said.
“And on the same day after participating in a debate on TIMES NOW around 8.52 PM, he (Hafeez) receives a call from the phone number (+91) 9819743514 abusing him and all Kashmiris for raising the human right violations in public domain.”
Simultaneously, Hafeez informed the Kothi Bagh police station and next morning on 20th April, he filed FIR in writing with the same police station as well as in police station Baramulla. “Three days have passed since then but no action has been taken against the perpetrator.”
“In wake of the above issue, J&K RTI Movement urges quick and speedy action against culprits who tried to threaten the first RTI Activist of J&K for raising the human rights violations in public domain and also the atrocities that students of Kashmir are subjected to outside J&K must be curbed.
