Intense clashes erupt in old town Sopore

Sopore: Intense clashes between protesters and government forces erupted in north Kashmir’s old town area of Sopore on Friday.
A pro freedom rally was taken out from historical Jamia Masjid of Sopore after congregation prayers, government forces already deployed in main bazaar tried to stop the rally triggering intense clashes, local sources said.
Amid pro-freedom and anti-India sloganeering, angry protesters pelted stones on government forces and in retaliation police used heavy teargas, PAVA shells and stun grenades to disperse the protesters.
The clashes were going on when reports last came in, however no injury were reported.
