Div Com reviews flood channel expansion

SRINAGAR: Divisional Commis­sioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, Wednesday reviewed the progress on expansion of Jhelum flood spill chan­nel and land acquisition cases.

Additional Commissioner Kashmir, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Col­lector Land Acquisition Irrigation & Flood Control (I&FC), Assistant Com­missioner and other concerned attend­ed the meeting, while as deputy com­missioners of Budgam and Bandipora participated in the meeting through video conferencing, a statement by J&K’s information department said.

The meeting was told that the work on flood spill channel is being under­taken at an estimated cost of Rs 399.29 crore and passes through districts of Srinagar, Budgam and Bandipora from Bemina to Naidkhai via Khushipora involving 1759 kanals of land.

The Divisional Commissioner was briefed in detail about issues creating hiccups in smooth execution of work on the project. He directed the concerned to resolve the issues at the earliest and expedite work on the vital project, said the statement.

He directed the concerned to send documents pertaining to land ac­quisition to the Collector Land Ac­quisition Irrigation & Flood Control (I&FC) within a week and directed him to disburse the compensation to owners within 3 days.
