Rafiabad villages connected with Sopore fruit mandi through dilapidated road

Baramulla: The vital road connecting various quarters of north Kashmir’s Rafiabad area with apple-town Sopore is in a highly dilapidated condition causing huge inconvenience and economic losses to local residents.
Locals said that Ladoora-Sopore road that connects villages falling in the jurisdiction of Rohama and Dangiwacha tehsils, Qaziabad and Baramulla with fruit mandi and main town Sopore has been left unattended. The transporters are facing a multitude of problems as a normal hour an hour journey usually takes a minimum of two hours to complete.
Residents say that from Ladoora to Achabal, the single lane road is in bad condition and it is even cumbersome for the animals to walk on it. The passenger vehicles take half an hour to traverse the five kilometer road stretch.
The area is dominated by apple orchards and most of the people are associated with fruit business. The locals said that people from the area often visit fruit market in Sopore. “The dilapidated condition of the road has made it scary to travel on it. Many people have taken their private cars off the road to avoid inconvenience and damage to their vehicles,” Mohammad Amin, a local resident said.
