SRINAGAR: Chairman Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Geelani on Tuesday said that educational institutions have been turned into “battlefields” and youth were “subjected to worst form of state terrorism”.
In a statement issued here, Geelani slammed authorities for their “highhandedness” against students saying that student community is nowhere safe citing the “backlash” against students in Banihal.
Criticising authorities for their “brute approach” against students, Geelani said they are ruining their future. He expressed “deep concern” over the reports of a girl student having received serious injuries.
“Eyewitnesses reveal that she was targeted and a stone was aimed at her from nearby CRPF bunker. It is a murderous attack and a deliberate attempt to kill a student,” he said.
Commenting over the closure of educational institutions, the Hurriyat chairman termed it a “deliberate attempt and part of their game plan”. ‘They instigated and provoked students in Pulwama and later on closed all the educational institutions. This is a Doval Doctrine. Forces are given free hand,” he said.
“Authorities have waged a war against students. They should stop it forthwith or face resentment,” Geelani added.
