KULGAM: District Development Commissioner, Kulgam Showkat Aijaz Bhat Friday inaugurated a Digi Dhan Mela at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kulgam.
The mela is aimed to promote the digital payments/cash less transitions, in the district.
On the occasion, J&K Bank, CSC, and other banks were asked to install their stalls and distribute publicity material promoting digital payment system particularly among student community in order to make cashless transitions a mass movement.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said the focus of this programme is to spread digital awareness among students to facilitate them to use cashless payments options in their day today life. He directed LDM to take necessary steps for further expansion of this intervention for ensuing digital transitions to occur in the district.Earlier, the students of Girls Higher Secondary School spoke on the importance of digital transitions in modern times, besides a quiz competition was also held.Deputy CEO, Principal Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Chief Planning Officer, District informatics officer and representatives of J&K Bank, LDM, and other concerned were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile to promote cashless transactions and digital payment system a Digi Dhan Mela was organised by district administration at Boys Higher Secondary School here on Friday.
MLA Doda Shakti Raj Parihar was the chief guest on the occasion. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Hanief Malik, ADDC Narinder Singh Bali, ACR Tariq Naik, Principals, various officers of other departments, bankers and locals attended the program.
Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said that the focus of customer awareness campaign is to spread digital awareness thus facilitating people to use cashless payment options in their day to day transactions.
Parihar further said that the campaign will fulfill the objective of moving towards a cashless economy. With the introduction of cashless payments options like credit & Debit Cards, POS terminals, e-wallet options and Loyalty cards at Retail Outlets, the convenience lies in being cashless in today’s time, he added.
Various digital payment solutions available to the general public were also showcased during the program.
