PDP candidate accused of ferrying bogus voters amid boycott
Budran (Budgam): A scuffle broke out between PDP and NC acitivists in Budran polling station in Beerwah constituency of central Kashmir’s Budgam district today on Thursday over allegations of bogus voting.
Local residents alleged that PDP candidate Nazir Ahmad Khan and its youth leader Wahid Parra entered the booth along with dozens of “mobile voters” to cast bogus votes amid a complete boycott by local residents.
“As soon as the mobile voters casted some votes and were trying to vote again, some person informed the local Numberdar about the bogus voting. Soon after the Numberdar arrived he identified the voters and PDP candidate, as non-locals,” a local resident said.
This led to heated arguments between NC and PDP supporters resulting in clashes during which they pushed each other.
Soon NC leader Tanveer Sadiq along with some supporters appeared on the scene, after someone called him on phone. and joined in heated arguments with PDP leaders and activists.
“PDP leaders reached the booth along with 35 mobile voters to which we strongly objected,” Tanveer Sadiq told Kashmir Reader.
“There was zero percent voting in Badran centre till 11 am and minutes after PDP leaders barged into the booth they cast 30 votes,” Tanveer added.
After some intervention from locals, and police the clashes settled down.
“They are defaming the villagers by casting the bogus vote, while the villagers on boycott,” Gh Mohd Rather a local resident told Kashmir Reader.
