Srinagar: Clashes between PDP and NC activists erupted at Badren polling station in Beerwah constituency of Budgam district Thursday after PDP candidate Nazir Ahmad Khan and Youth PDP leader Wahid Parra allegedly entered the booth along with dozens of mobile voters.
“As soon as the mobile voters started casting votes, the local Lamberdar identified them as non-locals,” local sources said.
This led to heated arguments between NC and PDP supporters resulting in clashes during which they pushed each other.
Soon NC leader Tanveer Sadiq along with many supporters appeared the scene sources said, and added that he also joined in heated arguments with PDP leaders and activists.
“PDP leaders reached the booth along with 35 mobile voters to which we strongly objected,” Tanveer Sadiq told Kashmir Reader.
“There was zero percent voting in Badran centre till 11 am and minutes after PDP leaders barged into the booth they cast 30 votes,” Tanveer added.
Badran B polling station is situated at Government Primary School and the situation was tense there when reports last came in.
Re-polling is being held at 38 polling stations in Srinagar LS seat. All the said booths are situated in Budgam district which witnessed very low poll percentage on April 9.
