SRINAGAR: Days after a woman bank employee allegedly committed suicide in Sopore area of North Kashmir, the police have arrested a senior official of the bank the woman alleged in her suicide note, pushed her to take the extreme step, sources said.
The 31-year-old woman allegedly killed herself on April 6 by hanging at her residence in Talian mohalla of Takyabal in Sopore. The police lodged an FIR vide number 82/2017 in the case and launched an investigation in the incident.
In a suicide note, the victim left behind, she accused the bank’s cluster head Showkat Nehvi, a resident of Srinagar city, for pushing her into committing suicide.
“The police are investigating the matter. We expect he is punished and brought to justice,” the victim’s brother Adnan told Kashmir Reader.
According to sources, a three member delegation from the bank including the circle head, another cluster head and a senior bank official on Monday visited the victim’s family along with the civil society members of Sopore. The delegation offered a monetary amount to the family including an undisclosed amount as ex-gratia relief but the family refused to take the amount.
