Srinagar: Principal opposition party, National Conference on Wednesday expressed “serious apprehensions” about the re-poll on 38 polling stations of district Budgam scheduled on Thursday, sources said.
The party wrote a letter to the Election Commission of India (ECI) in this regard, sources said.
The party in its letter has sought certain “safeguards and steps to uphold the integrity of the democratic process”.
The re-poll on 38 polling stations of Srinagar Lok Sabha seat were announced after large scale boycott and violence on April 9 when elections were held.
Eight civilians were killed and more than hundred were injured in government forces actions in Budgam and Ganderbal districts in particular. The polling for Anantnag LS seat was postponed till May 25.
Srinagar, Budgam and Ganderbal districts form the central Kashmir Lok Sabha seat.
