Srinagar: Seven independent candidates contesting on Srinagar Lok Sabha seat Wednesday asked people not to vote during the re-poll for 38 polling stations scheduled for tomorrow.
The said candidates jointly addressed media reporters in a Srinagar hotel.
They distributed a brief letter addressed to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) J&K, seeking “implementation of real democracy”.
The letter said that the decision of re-poll was taken without consulting them.
“If Election Commission of India postponed election in Anantnag, why it did not postpone the re-poll in Budgam?,” they asked.
“We do not want and we do not mean any harm to you,” they told voters appealing them to boycott.
The candidates include Mirza Sajad Hussain Beig, Haji Ghulam Hassan Dar, Engineer Sajad Reshi, Chetan Sharma, Bikram Singh, Mehraj Khurshid Malik and Farooq Ahmad Dar.
