SRINAGAR: Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) leaders and activists continued with their election boycott campaign in various parts of south and central Kashmir on Saturday, a party statement said.
It said JKLF zonal president Noor Muhammad Kalwal, senior vice president Muhammad Yasin Butt and senior leader Zahoor Ahmad Butt continued with their campaign in a peaceful manner in south Kashmir and held (election) boycott program at Sutkipora, Hoogam and Kanalwan in Bijbehara.
Leaders, as per statement, also visited various parts of Anantnag town and addressed gatherings, held door-to-door campaign and asked people to stay away from elections.
The statement said that police early Saturday morning raided the residences of JKLF district president Budgam Gulzar Ahmad Pahalwan and senior activist Fayaz Ahmad at Khanyaar and “harassed” his family. “JKLF strongly condemns this police highhandedness.”
Meanwhile, JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik has expressed heartfelt grief over the demise of the mother of senior party member and block president Rafiabad, Abdul Rashid Mir (Resh Moal).
“While Abdul Rashid Mir is associated with JKLF, his brother is also in jail from many months,” the statement said, adding, “A JKLF delegation participated in the funeral prayers of the deceased and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.”
