Calls Farooq’s remarks ‘a sham’, says PDP ‘a creation of India’s NSA Doval’
Srinagar: Ahead of the upcoming by-polls, Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani on Friday urged people to make the election boycott a success by observing complete shut down on April 9 and 12, the scheduled dates for voting in Srinagar and Anantnag parliamentary constituencies.
Geelani said when the state authorities were “brutally killing people, hundreds of pro- freedoms leadership and activists were lodged in detention centers, and people were facing flood-like situation, the staging of the election drama makes no sense”.
Referring to PDP, NC and other pro-India parties, Geelani said “these parties do not care for the people but are desperate to stage election drama to achieve power”.
Expressing his satisfaction over the resolution passed during Friday prayers, wherein people reiterated their commitment towards the freedom movement, Geelani said Kashmir was passing through a crucial period and it was a prerequisite to follow the mission with same spirit as was witnessed during people’s uprising last year.
Geelani warned that any wrong move or step will prove detrimental and prolong our freedom struggle.
“We have given enormous sacrifices for ongoing freedom movement, each household has contributed. Few people who vote in election dramas were not only committing an act of treason, their actions were also acting as oxygen for the Indian occupation of Kashmir,” Geelani said
“It tantamount to betrayal with the sacred blood of martyrs and any sort of participation would prolong our struggle for freedom,” said Geelani.
Hurriyat (G) leader said that those who participate “in sham elections provide an opportunity to Indian rulers to mislead international community”.
“They are exploiting people of Jammu and Kashmir but they should know that they won’t mislead us as we are fully aware about their tricks,” Geelani said.
Referring to the recent statement of Farooq Abdullah wherein he expressed his “good gesture” for youth and Hurriyat leadership, Geelani said that they are “opportunists and it is just mockery and deceit”.
“National Conference is responsible for present turmoil, they deceived and backstabbed nation in 1996 while participating in the sponsored elections. SOG is their creation and it was Farooq Abdullah who asked police to shoot youth as soon they are arrested,” he said
“He is the man who supported and pleaded for Indian forces during Geneva Summit. We will never forget those 125 youth killed during National Conference regime in 2010,” Geelani added.
He said it was an irony that Abdullah who is claiming to fight BJP-RSS has shared power in the Vajpayee-led NDA regime.
Lashing out at the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Geelani said the “India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval was the mastermind behind the creation of this party”.
“They exploited people’s sentiments while displaying their ‘Qalam Dawat and green banners. Late Mufti while addressing Mujahedeen asked that he is there to represent them and they need not to live in jungles, but later through well thought game plane all prominent commanders were assassinated by PDP,” said Geelani.
“It was very common to see that these PDP men and their leaders were attending funerals of slain youth and shedding crocodile tears but now stand exposed, soon as they joined hands with BJP,” he added.
