Srinagar: River Jhelum crossed 18-ft mark on Thursday when flood in Srinagar is declared while it was flowing one foot below danger mark in Sangam in south Kashmir.
According to an official of Irrigation and Flood Control Kashmir, river Jhelum crossed the danger mark of 18 feet at Ram Munshibagh at 6 p.m. At Sangam, the official said, the Jhelum was flowing at 19.95-ft against 21-ft mark when flood is declared.
At Asham in Bandipora district, the official said, the water level of Jhelum was 10.08-ft against 13-ft mark when flood alarm is sounded in north Kashmir.
Regarding some tributaries, the official said, the water level in Vishow Nallah at Khudwani was 7.35m, 1.96m in Rambiyara Nallah at Vachi while the nallah Lidder at Batkoot was at 1.11 m at 6p.m.
