Srinagar: A soldier carrying bullets was arrested at Srinagar airport on Tuesday, a day after two grenades were found in the luggage of a soldier travelling to West Bengal from the same airport.
According to a senior Airport official, the soldier was found carrying cartridges of INSAS rifle. The bullets were detected during a security check when the soldier’s luggage passed through an X–Ray machine.
“The incident happened during the day and the person was scheduled to fly to Mumbai,” Director Srinagar Airport Sharad Kumar said.
Sources identified the army soldier as Pandiya Raj of 319 FD Hospital AMC Pattan in North Kashmir. Pandiya, sources said, later claimed that he had mistakenly forgotten the bullets in his bag.
