Uri-Baramulla highway develops cracks

BARAMULLA: The important road connecting two border tehsils of Baramulla district in north Kashmir–Uri and Boniyar—has developed cracks at several places causing concern among the local population.
They said the authorities were not paying heed to the worsening road condition.
From Baramulla to Gantamulla, 15 kilometer road developed major cracks a year ago due to water gushing out from the local streamlets but the concerned authorities never paid heed to timely repairs. Locals said that it appeared that the authorities wanted the road to collapse completely.
At the kilometer number 67, the Project Beacon authorities diverted a drain of a local stream. The water of the stream is seeping into the road causing several big cracks.
Four kilometers from main town Baramulla the important road developed several cracks near Dankhan hills due to water flowing over the road stretch.
The state of affairs is not different between Kitchama and Nowshera. From Bandi to Nand Singh (NS) Bridge the road stretch requires breast-walls at several places.
A junior level officer of Project beacon said they were preparing a plan for repairs at vital places.
