Srinagar: A three-day long adverse weather spell began in J&K on Tuesday.
MeT had predicted widespread rain in the plains and snow in the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir during the next three days.
A weather advisory issued by the MET department has asked farmers to postpone their agricultural activities during this period and also cautioned travelers on Srinagar-Jammu highway of possible landslides.
Based on the weather office advisory, the divisional administration has advised travellers to contact traffic control rooms in Jammu and Srinagar cities before undertaking the journey on the highway.
As per MeT department a western disturbance (WD) is active over the state and under this influence we are expecting adverse weather conditions to continue till the evening of April 6.
The WD is the name given to an extra tropical storm in the Mediterranean Sea under whose influence rainfall activity takes place in Pakistan, India, Nepal and Bangladesh.
