Srinagar: Prominent trader union leader Farooq Ahmed Trali was accorded warm send-off on the penultimate day of his 40-year-long service with the department of agriculture. Trali is retiring on March 31. He attained a prominent position within the trade union leadership of Jammu and Kashmir as he became the president of Agriculture employees union and general secretary and spokesman of the joint employee’s action committee.
Speaking at a function at a local hotel here, the speakers threw light on the life and contribution of Farooq Trali as trade leader. They praised the professionalism and qualities of Trali and said that he has earned name and fame by dint of his diligence, commitment and exemplary devotion. Speaking on the occasion director agriculture Showkat Ali Beigh said that during his brief stint at the directorate he has found Trali always eager to resolve the employees’ issues with the administration. Deputy commissioner Srinagar Dr Farooq Lone said that he has found his stint as the director of agriculture one his most memorable periods of his service.
Deputy IG Ghulam Hassan Bhat said that he knew Trali during the school and college days and appreciated his wit, diligence and commitment. He wished him success in his future plans. Dr Ahangar said that Tral locality has been abode of intellectuals, thinkers and extraordinary people.
The trade union leaders appreciated Trali’s contribution for the cause of the government employees and through his service career had performed his allotted duties with dedication and brought kudos for the department. They prayed for their peaceful future. In his farewell speech Trali declared that he would return to his birthplace and initiate a new chapter of his life by standing for social causes. “Politics or no politics is not an issue for me. I will dedicate the rest of my life for the uplift of the society,” he said.
