Srinagar: The joint resistance leadership has called for a complete shutdown on Wednesdayagainst civilian killings in Chadoora.
Asking people to observe a complete shutdown on Wednesday and organise protests after Friday prayers on March 31, Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik expressed their deep grief over the killing of three youths by government forces in Chadoora.
“It is the outcome of army chief’s warning that forces are now carrying out civilian killings,” they said.
Blaming the state government, the resistance leaders said, “Under a well thought out design forces and state police are killing innocent civilians.”
“If killings are not stopped we will call people to resist this killing spree. The so-called state administration and Indian authorities will have to face dire consequences… Enough is enough and we won’t tolerate these serial killings and it is better to face this mayhem once and for all come what may” a spokesman for the resistance leaders said.
“They are gagging the genuine voices through barrel of gun and pushing people to the wall. The officials and forces involved in the killings are neither tried for their crimes and not a single official was punished or brought to book,” they added.
The leadership said until the international community and human rights organizations cognizance of “these gruesome episodes”, the state of uncertainty would continue to haunt the entire region.
