BARAMULLA: Shortage of teachers at Government Higher Secondary School Uri is endangering the career of the more than 300 students enrolled there.
“There is no teaching staff currently available for more than 300 students, and it seems that government has no plan to save the precious time of students” Asif Iqbal, a student of the school said.
He said that there were no teachers available for at least eight subjects; mathematics, English, botany, zoology, chemistry, Urdu, education and commerce. Fayaz Ahmad, another student, said that last year too, the department sent teachers very late, due to which students couldn’t complete their courses. Abdul Latif Khan, a local resident of Uri said that students of school keep roaming in the market every day, “because they have no teachers, which is matter of concern”.
An official of the education department told Kashmir Reader that the teachers to the school would be sent after recruitment of contractual teachers, for which the list would be published “within few days”.
