‘Will do everything to uphold self respect of my people’
SRINAGAR: Awami Itihad Party (AIP) president and MLA Langate Er Rasheed on Monday deferred his proposed program to stop the army convoy on Baramulla-Kupwara highway after getting assurance from the district and army administration that incident like that of Monday at Super Naghama would not be repeated.
As per a statement issued here, Rasheed also assured that army would be made accountable in future while carrying out movement on various routes of district Kupwara.
“However, Er Rasheed condemned the incident and warned army to mend its behaviour or face peaceful mass resistance,” the statement said.
“The hooliganism at Super Naghama is the second incident during last two months and is absolutely intolerable and unacceptable. It would be in army’s own interest if they stop provoking masses who are already running out of patience due to state-terrorism and absence of any credible and transparent accountability,” Rasheed said.
He said army must realise that “J&K is a political dispute and they can’t rule it at the barrel of gun by simply finding themselves at liberty to kill Kashmiris or hit them with pellets and bullets”.
While the law enforcing agencies in the largest state of UP in collaboration with the private army of Yogi Aadityanath, are busy in bulldozing and locking down the business establishments of minority community, the
The AIP president said forces in Kashmir seem to have got encouraged from the activities of Hindutva forces in UP since Yogi Adityanath assumed power. “Forces here have started considering it their religious duty to harass, humiliate, torture and kill Kashmiris,” he said.
Rasheed said he has nothing personal against army or other security agencies but “at the same time I’m duty-bound to protect the life and property of every single person of my constituency and will do everything to uphold the self respect of my people”.
