Srinagar: Two unidentified militants were killed at Padgampora Awantipora, area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday during a brief encounter between militants and government forces, police sources said.
They said militants who were travelling in a Maruti car where intercepted by police and army at a joint Naka however they opened fire.
SSP Pulwama Mohammad Rayees Bhat told Kashmir Reader that both militants were killed after they opened fire on the naka party.
Police chief, SP Vaid, in a tweet also confirmed the killing of two militants.
“IPS officers while on their way to #Awantipora were ambushed by terrorists. The daring officers retaliatory fire killed both the terrorists,” Vaid tweeted.
The slain militants have been identified as Farooq Ahmad Hurra, a resident of Nazimpora Shopian and Rayee Ahmad, a resident of Belaw in Pulwama.
