Srinagar: Lar XI in a lopsided affair beat Boys Cricket Club Sumbal by 39 runs in the final of T-20 cricket tournament on Sunday played at Sainik School Mansbal.
Lar XI won the toss and elected to bat first and in their allotted 20 overs, Lar XI made 153 runs for the loss of nine wickets. In reply BCC, Sumbal were bundled out for 114 in 17 overs.
Farooq Ahmad of Lar XI was declared as the man of the match for taking four wickets while skipper, Suhail Ahmad who took 11 wickets was declared as the man of the series. Abid Ahmad of Lar XI and Sajad Ahmad of BCC, Sumbal were declared as the best batsman and best bowler of the tournament respectively.
Nine teams from Bandipora and Ganderbal participated in the tournament. Principal Sainik School Mansbal Nazir Ahmad Dar was the chief guest on the occasion.
Dar along with Commandant IRP 8th Bn, ML Mehra distributed the trophies and prizes among the winner and runner up teams.
Among others, Commandant JKAP 8th Bn JS Johar, Dy. Commandant IRP 8th Bn Virinder Singh Manhas, Dy. Commandant IRP 8th Bn G.L Sharma and other officers were present.
