Srinagar: Raouf’s belligerent knock of 68 runs helps GCC Budgam to beat Humhama Cricket Club by three wickets in the summit clash of
‘Shaheed Amanullah’ T-20 cricket tournament on Friday played at Budgam.
Batting first, Humhama Cricket Club put a formidable total of 151 on the board in their allotted 20 overs.
Chasing a target of 151, GCC Budgam got worst possible start losing four wickets in quick succession.
But middle order batsman Raouf Ahmad played a belligerent knock of 68 runs as he smashed HCC bowlers to every corner of the park.
In his knock Raouf hit half a dozen hits for maximum and same number of boundaries and helped his side to achieve the required target in18th over with three wickets in hand and Raouf for his belligerent knock was adjudged man of the match.
Superintendent of JKAP 13th Bn, Fayaz Hussain was the chief guest while as DySP Malik Aijaz, Altaf Naik, Ghulam Jeelani, Sajad Ahmad also graced the occasion.
Speaking on the sidelines of the function Hussain said “It was an endeavour of the process to provide better career opportunities and platform to the sports loving youth.”
On the occasion, both winner and runner up teams were given trophies, sport kits, track suits and other prizes.
The tournament was organised by JKAP 13th Bn in the memory of late Sub Inspector, Amanullah at Armed Complex Humhama in Budgam in which eight local teams of Budgam including an organizer’s team participated.
