Srinagar: Many parts of Kashmir valley received rainfall since Tuesday evening, while as the meteorological department predicted moderate rains for another 24 hours.
“Light to moderate rainfall widespread in the both upper and plain regions is expected for next 24 hours,” MeT officials said.
Weather is likely to improve after 24 hours and may remain dry for few days, according to officials.
“Qazigund received 0.6mm rainfall on Wednesday, Banihal received 1.6 mm, while Shopian, Pahalgam, Gulmarg, Kokernag, and Kupwara remained dry,” Met official Abdul Majeed Ganie said.
The Srinagar Jammu highway remained open for traffic while flights took off as per schedule from Srinagar airport.
“The road was, clear no landslides has been reported and was available for traffic from Jammu to Srinagar Wednesday. We are monitoring the situation and will close the road if landslide happens,” Sanjay Kumar Baghat, Superintendent of Police for traffic on the highway, told Kashmir Reader.
